W H I T E S

2019 Two Birds One Stone Blanc – Languedoc, France – Reg $16.99 – 100% Colombard sourced from south western France. The French winemaking team who made this travelled the world studying wine notably, South America, South Africa, and Australia before settling back in France to produce this.  This wine reaps the rewards of French terrior and is done in the style of the southern hemisphere. This Colombard shows vivid flavors of lime and lychee and has a mineral backbone. Try pairing this with fresh ceviche or light sushi fare.

2019 Chateau Lamothe Bordeaux Rose – Bordeaux, France – Reg $13.99 – 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot rose from Bordeaux. 2019 was a sunny and warm year in Bordeaux and as a result we have a medium to full bodied rose here. This has a soft texture and flavors of rich ripe fruit balanced with bright acidity and a mineral finish. Try pairing this with a variety of dishes tapas style, vegetable tarts work well too.

2019 Keuntz Bas Alsace Blanc – Alsace, France – Reg $15.99 - 60% Sylvaner, 20% Auxerrois, 20% Muscat. Kuentz-Bas was first established by the Kuentz family in 1795, and the domaine as we know it today was forged through a marriage that joined the Kuentz and Bas families in 1895. Today the domaine practices organic and biodynamic viticulture and turns out some of the finest wines in Alsace. A crisp, refreshingly dry white blend with notes of apple and pear along with lovely acidity that makes the wine pair beautifully with dover sole or oysters on the half shell.

2019 THRIVE Sauvignon Blanc – California – Reg $17.49 -  THRIVE Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from grapes from select vineyards throughout California. A combination of cooler and warmer climates offers the wine more complex fruit character. The juice is light-bodied with refreshing layers of citrus, green apple and hints of tropical fruit. This versatile, food-friendly wine pairs perfectly with soft cheeses or light seafood.

2019 Guy Breton Cuvee Marylou Beaujolais Villages – Burgundy, France – Reg $32.49 – This 100% Gamay is named after Guy Breton’s daughter. The wine is sourced just 500 meters from his Morgon Cru vines which makes it a real sleeper. This is a natural wine from the “Saint Joseph” and “Grand Cras” microclimates where the low pH of the soil creates favorable conditions for Breton’s So2 free bottlings. This cuvee is light bodied with very little tannin and has flavors of marasca cherry, flint, and exotic spice. Try pairing this gem with roast fowl, grilled pork, or sweet potato dishes.

2019 Two Birds One Stone Rouge – Languedoc, France – Reg $16.99 – 100% Carignan from South Western France grown on limestone and sandstone. This has been fermented at a controlled temperature to keep the wine’s fruity aromas intact. It is matured on French oak staves to add complexity and to round out the mouthfeel. Bright ruby in the glass with hints of purple, this medium bodied wine has silky tannin and shows expressive flavors of ripe black plum, pomegranate, and raspberry. Try pairing this with smoked chicken, or brisket, or charred vegetables on the grill.

2018 La Fiole Cotes du Rhone – Rhone, France – Reg $16.99 – 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre from the heart of Rhone. Known worldwide both for its container and its content, La Fiole is a legend. The shape of the bottle is unique to say the least and as legend has it; In 1952 Charles Brotte witnessed a great fire on his family farm and cellar, the only surviving bottles of the family wine were left twisted and distorted and to honor his legacy the Brotte bottle is twisted. Ok this would be a great story if it were true, but we have it on good authority that the bottles were created in a competition for local artists to create a bottle shape which would encompass the wild movement of the Grenache vine twisting in the infamous Rhone Mistral wind. Either way it’s a fun bottle which has a direct relationship to the land it comes from and the juice is no different. This is medium bodied with silky tannins and a bright acidity, it shows flavors of raspberry, cherry, bramble, along with a touch of spice and earth. Try pairing this one with grilled game in a huckleberry reduction or perhaps a steak au poivre.

2019 Forte do Cego Red Bland – Portugal – Reg 9.49 – 40% Syrah, 40% Castelão, 20% Touriga Nacional produced in southern Portugal. Portuguese red is a horse of a different color and its color is Spring and Summer. This is dark and deep in color but light and bright in character. Light bodied and low on tannin, this shows great acidity and had flavors of ripe blackberries, fresh cherries, and a touch of flamed citrus. Try pairing with citrus and chicken or herb roasted pork.
