NV Sommariva, Prosecco, Glera – Veneto, Italy – Reg $20.99 – 100% Glera from the Veneto of Italy. This prosecco comes from one of the best subregions for the grape, Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG. The wine is fermented in stainless steel with minimal dosage creating a dry, delicate wine. There are notes of pear, white orchard blossoms, almonds and meyer lemon. The bubble is small and not overly effervescent. Sommariva, a multigeneration house, takes their wine making very seriously and strives to produce elegant prosecco that is not destined for a mimosa but rather to be thoughtfully sipped. This sparkling would pair ideally with oily fish, creamy panna cotta and fried dishes.

For over 100 years La Pergola has been making creative and well balanced wine in this region. Planted on sandy soils, this very approachable and easy drinking wine is lively and a perfect example of the grape. Arneis is a simple grape that can surprise with unexpected notes. The region is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir although is often overshadowed by Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Domaine Salvard has been making wine in the region since the 1890’s. Perfecting their technique over the century, the grapes grown here could rival some of the best vineyards from neighboring regions. This rosé is delicate on the nose with lavender, red cherry, and apple. On the palate, this light, pinot Noir based wine has hints of cranberry, honeydew and quince. High acid and moderate alchol keep this wine bone dry. This would pair ideally with goat cheese, ricotta and honey and arugula with prosciutto.
